A. March Events

Monthly Social Gathering

The March Social Gathering at Conrad was held on March 7, 2007 Wednesday. Mr Wilson Wong, Advertising Director of Hong Kong Economic Times shared his valuable experience in working with the media with audience. Participants learnt about how to identify and satisfy customer needs leading to product differentiation and enhance competitive differentiation by improving service levels.

Monthly Social Gathering is held on the first Wednesday of each month at Lobby Lounge, Conrad Hotel from 6:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. The April gathering will be held on April 4, 2007. Please click here for more details.

CIM Marketing Symposium 2007

The 5th CIM Marketing Symposium was successfully held on March 17, 2007 Saturday at Wei Hing Theatre, City University of Hong Kong under the theme of "Market Leaders' Strategies". The symposium was well-received by nearly 750 attendees attending both sessions. Six prominent speakers were invited to share their experiences with audience on how they sustained their market leaders' positions in this fiercely competitive environment. Participants comprised of CIM members, marketing professionals and marketing students from various tertiary institutions.

All speakers were very inspiring. Audience participated in a lively Q&A Session conducted by the facilitators. The response to the Symposium was excellent. CIM members could claim 6 CPD hours (Category 7) for attending both sessions of the symposium.

Evening Seminar

An evening seminar on "Tap into the Power of Mobile Marketing - REACH, RELEVANCE, AND RESULTS" was held on March 29, 2007 Thursday. The speaker was Mr. Ken Fong, CEO & Co-founder of Synergy Pacific (Holding) Ltd. Mr. Fong discussed the challenges and opportunities that Mobile Marketing brought to the companies. Participants could claim 2 CPD hours (Category 10) for attending this seminar.

B. About CIM

AGM in January 2007

Hon. the Lord Michael Heseltine CH, President, attended the AGM at Moor Hall, CIM Headquarters, in January 2007. Rod Wilkes was announced as the new Chief Executive of the Institute at the AGM.

Career Talk for Hong Kong Community College

A Career Talk was delivered by Dr. Choi Wing Leung (Hon. Secretary and Chairman of Communication Committee, CIM HK) and Dr. Pamela Kwok (Chairman of Major Events Committee, CIM HK) to marketing students at the Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on March 1, 2007 Thursday. From time to time CIM HK gives career talks to marketing/business students at various local institutions to help them make an intelligent, informed career choice and pursue the marketing qualifications approved by the Chartered Institute of Marketing. It is an opportunity for the would-be marketers to learn more about CIM and the path to becoming a Chartered Marketer.

Careers and Education Fair at The University of Hong Kong

CIM HK was invited to participate in the Careers and Education Fair held at The University of Hong Kong, Pokfulam, on March 7, 2007 Wednesday. Representatives from civil service, professional bodies, educational institutions and commercial sector were invited to meet students at the event.

Presentation at Hong Kong Community College

Ms. Alyson Mar, Trustee of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, was invited by the Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to give a presentation on "Best Practice in Event Marketing" on March 27, 2007. During the presentation, Ms. Mar highlighted some important issues for Event Marketing by using the case studies on "Sincere's Crazy Sale" and "CIM HK 10th Anniversary Celebration".

Board of Trustees Meeting in March 2007

Ms. Alyson Mar attended Board of Trustees Meeting at Moor Hall in March, 2007. Ms. Mar is the first Chinese lady and Hong Kong member being elected to the Board representing the interests of the Asia Pacific region.

Networking Day at Lingnan University

CIM HK participated in the Networking Day at the Lingnan University on March 29, 2007 (Thursday). Information booth was set up and brief introduction of CIM was delivered to students.
