B. June Activities

1. Monthly Social Gathering

 

The June Social Gathering at Conrad Hong Kong was held on June 6, 2007 (Wednesday). In June social gathering, Mr. Peter So, a Fung-shui Master, explained how the study of fortune-telling, such as palm-reading and face-reading, helped a person learn more about oneself. Mr. So also shared his experience on how a person could adapt metaphysics to his or her work and to deal with interpersonal relationship. Around 50 guests joined the social gathering and the response was very overwhelming.

2. European Marketing Confederation

  The Chartered Institute of Marketing, a member of the European Marketing Confederation, hosted a conference for EMC Moor Hall during June 7 to 10, 2007.Over twenty delegates from different countries in Europe attended this 3-day event. This included a one-day conference featuring three speakers sharing their experiences in marketing practices. Alyson Mar, Trustee, was invited to deliver a short presentation to introduce CIM in Hong Kong. Towards the closing of the conference, the new Chairman, Carlos Oliveira from Portugal, received the Chairman's chain from the out-going Chairman, Nikos Panoussopoulos from Greece, signifying the beginning of a new term of office for The European Marketing Confederation.

3. CPD Alliance/South China Morning Post Joint Seminar

  "CPD Alliance/SCMP Continuing Professional Development Seminar 2007" was held on June 11, 2007 (Monday) at HKUST Business School Central. Dr. Stephen Ho, Vice Chairman of CIM HK, delivered a speech on "CPD for Marketing Professionals".

A survey results on "HK Professionals' Move into Mainland China - Trends & Challenges" were released at the press conference held right after the seminar. Dr. Ho represented CIM HK to sit at the head table to answer questions from the press.

CIM HK had the highest response rate within the CPD Alliance.

4. FCIM Lunch

At regular intervals, CIM HK organise gathering for the FCIMs to meet with the objective of providing our Fellow CIM Members strategic opportunities for networking, interacting and sharing of business initiatives and resources. Our latest FCIM Club Lunch was held on June 14, 2007 (Thursday). Being one of the Elite group of CIM, our honorable FCIM were invited to join the gathering for sharing their experiences and enjoying first-handedly service and benefits that CIM bring to our prestigious bunch.

5. Dragon Boat Race - Sponsorship to MBSAA

 

CIM HK sponsored the Manchester Business School Alumni Association's Dragon Boat team to compete in Stanley, Hong Kong on June 19, 2007 (Tuesday) which was the Dragon Boat Festival.

6. HKU SPACE Open House

On June 23, 2007 (Saturday), CIM HK was invited to take part in HKU SPACE Open House which is the annual event of School of Professional And Continuing Education, The University of Hong Kong. CIM HK participated in the exhibition and provided latest information on professional development to potential students.

7. Evening Seminar

Our monthly seminar on "Retail Planning and Shopping Centre Design" was held on June 26, 2007 (Tuesday). The speaker was Keith Griffiths, Chairman of Aedas Ltd. Keith pointed out the relationship between developers, marketers and retailers, and how they affect the decision making of each others in retail planning and shopping centre design. Participants claimed 2 CPD hours (Category 10) for attending this seminar.

D. Chartered Marketer Application - CPD Records

Have you accumulated the necessary 35 hours of CPD for this year?
The CPD year 2006/2007 was end on June 30, 2007. All CPD records should be submitted to CIM HK on or before July 31, 2007. Late entries will not be entertained in any case. Please ensure that your records are updated along with all supporting documents.

Only current paid up FCIM and MCIM can apply. Lapsed or suspended members will not be qualified. Therefore, please check if you have paid up your current subscription fee. You need to submit a CPD record for two consecutive years to apply for Chartered Marketer status.

E. Hong Kong ICT Awards 2007 - Award for Digital Media Marketing Campaign supported by the Hong Kong SAR Government

It is a great pleasure for CIM HK to have been invited to be one of the co-organisers of the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2007: Best Ubiquitous Networking Award. This is the first year that Digital Media Marketing Campaign to be included as one of the categories in the Hong Kong ICT Awards competition.

CIM HK was honoured to participate in this event which is supported by Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, the government of HKSAR. The concept of the competition is to award those companies or agencies who collaborate marketing with IT elements successfully, i.e. advertising, CRM, or other marketing / promotional campaigns that employ the use of internet, mobile or wireless technologies to extend market reach and effectiveness.

Submission period for entries: June 14 - August 23, 2007
