Michael Thomas, "Father of CIM HK", Deceased
It is with great sadness for The Chartered Institute of
Marketing, Hong Kong (CIM HK) to learn of the passing of
Professor Michael Thomas: "Father of CIM HK" as
he initiated the HK branch set up.
Prof. Thomas first visited Hong Kong in 1995 to help with
eastablishing the Hong Kong branch. This was achieved in
1996. Prof. Thomas subsequently visited in 2000 to officiate
at the opening ceremony of CIM HK's first office in Central;
and in 2006 during the CIM HK 10th Anniversary Celebrations,
when Prof. Thomas filled the role as facilitator of the
morning session of the International Marketing Conference.
"The Hong Kong Regional Board and staff will vouch
our best efforts to ensure that the seed of marketing knowledge
and professional practice planted by him in HK would further
grow, and that his legacy will continue in the Far East.
Prof. Thomas will be dearly missed by all CIM members and
friends in HK," CIM HK spokesman said.
Prof. Thomas passed away peacefully on Jan 30, 2010 (Sat).
His funeral is on Feb 6, 2010 (Sat) at Noon in the Great
Hall of Rothesay Castle, the Isle of Bute, U.K.
