According to industry estimates, the average large organisation
has 8-10 crises a year. Both large and small-scale, such crises
may range from labour / employee issues to activist group
campaigns, to product tampering and quality control issues,
to corporate and service failures, industrial accidents and
natural disasters¡K and this is just the beginning. Some crises
arrive without warning, while others are a result of months
or years of problems.
Issues or crises are not necessarily a sign of organisational
weakness, but are a reflection of the reality of the world
today. The business environment has changed - companies are
under increasing scrutiny as customers, the media, activists
and the general public demand greater openness and higher
standards of accountability. If not effectively managed, the
consequences of even a minor crisis can have serious impact
on the reputation of an organisation.
At the seminar, Ms. Charlotte Fan, Director of GolinHarris,
a leading global public relations consultancy, will share
with you her knowledge and experience in the following:
- how companies can effectively prepare for and manage
crises
- the keys to survival when a crisis strikes
- how to manage the media and opinion leaders who play
a significant role in shaping public perception during a
crisis
- case studies on how companies have managed specific crises
and issues
