Marketers for professional services have been spending excessive amounts on treating clients to exclusive hospitality or sporting events in the name of marketing and business development. But is this money wisely spent?
Laurie Young, a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing and a renowned international specialist in the marketing and selling of services, dispelled the misconception surrounding this often costly and hard-to-measure method at the CIM HK Fellow's Dinner at the Regal Ballroom of the Regal Hong Kong Hotel on August 23, 2007.
In his presentation, titled "Throwing Money Away?", Laurie reinforced the significance of word of mouth and relationship marketing, while emphasising on the intangible value of a company's brand. He also introduced the concept of thought leadership as a priceless marketing tool. These strategies maximise the effectiveness of marketing budgets, helping marketers not to throw any money away. Laurie also shared his personal experience and knowledge in the professional services marketing industry.
The event attracted more than 60 participants, who were impressed by Laurie's enthusiastic, entertaining and insightful presentation.
