Marketing Symposium 2006 - March 25, 2006 The Challenger in Marketing Field
As a kick-off event to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of The Chartered
Institute of Marketing, Hong Kong Region in 2006, the 4th CIM Marketing Symposium
was successfully held on Saturday March 25, 2006 at Wei Hing Theatre, City University
of Hong Kong (CityU). Six distinguished speakers were invited to share their expertise
with audience on how they turn challenges into business opportunities. The Symposium
attracted 700 participants from CIM members, marketing practitioners and marketing
students. The event received unanimous support from the Hong Kong Regional
Board. It was honoured to have Prof. Enoch Young, Vice-President, presented souvenirs
to speakers and sponsors. Mr. Shin Keong Cheong, Chairman, delivered Opening Remarks. Most
important of all, Ms. Alyson Mar, member of International Board of Trustees of
the Institute, was invited to be the Guest-of-Honour. On behalf of the Institute,
she delivered the Vote of Thanks to the nine sponsors, including Department of
Marketing, CityU, 99 Group Center Co. Ltd. (Double A), Health Works, Kowloon-Canton
Railway Corporation, Manchester Business School Worldwide, Shun Hing JVC Ltd.,
Taikoo Sugar Ltd., Urban Group and Wrigley, six speakers and volunteer helpers
from CityU and Hong Kong Community College of Polytechnic University of Hong Kong.

The audience participated in a lively Question and Answer Session conducted by the facilitators including Mr. Ali Chan, FCIM and Dr. Barry Mak, FCIM for the morning session and afternoon session respectively. Both gentlemen are members of CIM HK Regional Board. The Symposium was well-received by the audience and overall, this was a successful and enjoyable event.
